Be sure to check out the most current Government of Canada COVID-19 requirements (https://travel.gc.ca/travel-covid/travel-restrictions/exemptions) and https://travel.gc.ca/travel-covid/travel-restrictions/covid-vaccinated-travellers-entering-canada.

These requirements may impact a player’s ability to participate in minor hockey for 14 days upon return to Canada if they are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated and between 5 and 17 years of age.

It is the responsibility of each family to understand and follow all government requirements.

On December 3, Hockey Calgary further clarifies this indicating unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated children under 18 years of age returning to Canada from international travel will not be permitted to participate in hockey related activities until they have completed their Government of Canada requirements (minimum of 14 days).

As per the Government of Canada:

  • Unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated children under 12 years of age returning to Canada from international travel must “wear a mask and physically distance when in contact with non-household members” (for 14 days upon return). Therefore, participation hockey is not possible.
  • Unvaccinated or not fully vaccinated youth aged 12-17 years of age returning to Canada from international travel “are subject to the 14-day quarantine, and all testing requirements for pre-entry, arrival and Day-8 tests, whether or not they are accompanied by travellers who qualify as a fully vaccinated traveller.”

Please note: the providing of private negative testing will not be sufficient to participate in hockey prior to the completion of GOC requirements.

Hockey Calgary is following all provincial, federal, and public health guidelines to ensure we keep our children safe and playing the game they love. We appreciate your understanding and patience during this ever-changing landscape.
