new to minor hockey registration steps

Player has never registered in minor hockey before and lives in Trails West Boundaries.

STEP 1: To create a Hockey Canada Registry (HCR) number, follow this two-step process:

Create a My Account Login

  • Go to https://myaccount.spordle.com/login and enter your email.
  • If prompted for a password, log in or reset it. Otherwise, click "Sign up" to create a new account.
  • Enter your personal information and create a secure password.
  • Verify your email using a six-digit code and accept the Spordle Terms and Conditions to access your My Account.

Create an HCR Number

  • Use this link: HCR Registration and click "Register Now."
  • Choose “Create HCR Number” and enter participant details.
  • If no existing match is found, click “Create a new participant” and complete the required demographic form.
  • Click “Create,” skip registration, and select “Create HCR Number” as an optional item.
  • Accept Terms and Conditions, choose “Cash” (no fee), and complete the process.
  • Your HCR number will appear next to the participant’s name in your account.

This number is essential for managing player profiles, registration, and team rosters.

STEP 2 : Mandatory Hockey Alberta Respect in Sport-Parent Course

  • One parent or guardian must take this online course. A separate $12 fee is charged.
  • Organization must be "Trails West" - do not choose Calgary
  • This program requires parents to re-certify every 4 years
  • Please review the RIS-P New User Guide for assistance in setting up a RIS account, adding your child(ren) and accessing the program.
  • In completing this course, it will automatically generate a Hockey Canada ID.

STEP 3: 

E-mail the TWHA Administrator with the following information:

  • Indicate that you are new Trails West and if you want to play Community or House League Hockey
  • Complete and sign the Hockey Calgary Parent Declaration Form
  • Send a copy of the player’s Birth certificate or Passport

Please provide a minimum of four (4) CURRENT proofs of residency with your name and address. Acceptable proof of residency include:

​​​​​​​Acceptable Proof of Residence (POR) - PRIMARY- MINIMUM 2

  • Utility bill in your name – Bill must include service address as well as mailing address and must be current (within the last month).
  • Current GST statement or Income Tax Assessment
  • Homeowner / Rental Insurance Statement for current year
  • If moving prior to the start of the season, a signed purchase/rental agreement with possession date
  • If moving to a home under construction - a signed builder agreement with possession date
  • Vehicle Registration /insurance

Acceptable Proof of Residence (POR)- SECONDARY

  • Cell phone bill
  • Valid Drivers License
  • Property Tax Statement
  • Bank/Financial Statement
  • Mortgage Statement
  • Student Demographic Information (available from your school)

STEP 4: (Administrator will complete)

  • Review and approve above documents to ensure the requirements of residency, age, Respect in Sport-Parent and Parent Declaration have been met
  • Request transfer of player’s Hockey Canada profile from previous association
  • Upon receipt of transfer approval and player profile with Trails West, provide parent with approval to register online with Trails West
