The Kyle Couture Memorial Scholarship – Applications Now Open!
Kyle Couture was a dedicated non-parent coach from 2005 to 2020, spending eight of those years with Trails West. He had a true passion for the game and was deeply admired by his players and their families. His 2014/15 season was one for the history books, leading the Midget 1 team to an incredible Esso Minor Hockey Week, Calgary City Championship, and Alberta Provincial Championship sweep.
More than his on-ice success, Kyle was a mentor, role model, and players’ coach—someone who made hockey fun while shaping young athletes into great people. He was committed to developing players through encouragement and positivity, always emphasizing leadership, academics, and giving back.
In his memory, The Kyle Couture Memorial Scholarship supports graduating Trails West players pursuing post-secondary education, with preference given to those entering a trade or technical diploma program and those who have contributed to the game of hockey.
How to Apply:
• Complete the Application Form
• Provide Confirmation of Attendance at a post-secondary institution
• Submit a 400-word Letter of Introduction detailing your Trails West history, lessons learned from hockey, and how you’ll carry them forward
• Include a Letter of Support from a coach or other TWHA member
